A total of 197 people have so far applied to become the Rastriya Swatantra Party's (RSP) candidates for rural municipality chair in Gandaki Province.
The party had started taking online applications from aspirants under the "Rural Municipality Candidate Club" from Bhadra 1.
By district, Gorkha has the most aspirants with 41. Syangja has 32 and Kaski has 31 people expressing interest in becoming chair.
However, not a single application has come from Mustang, which has 5 rural municipalities, or Manang, which has 4. In Myagdi, applications have come from only 3 of the 5 rural municipalities.
RSP Gandaki Province chair Nabin Tripathi said no aspirants have come forward from Manang and Mustang because work to build the party organization there is still under way.
