Congress convention: Deuba faction aims to finish district-province events within Mangsir

A group led by former Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has pushed ahead with lower-level conventions for a separate general convention.
The faction's meeting on Bhadra 17-18 had decided to hold its 15th central general convention from Mangsir 21 to 23.
According to faction leader Guru Baral, lower-level conventions have been completed in most districts, and district conventions are now under way.
He said that although the schedule started a little late due to floods and landslides, preparations are on track to complete the general convention within the fixed time.
Advocate Chandramani Adhikari, co-coordinator of the district election committee in Okhaldhunga, said unanimous leadership was elected in all local units and both provincial assembly constituencies there between Dashain and Tihar.
Manbahadur Khatri was elected unopposed as chair from the Rolpa district convention.
The faction has earlier completed conventions in Doti, Baitadi, Dolpa, Humla, Jumla, Mugu, Kalikot, Rukum West and Sankhuwasabha as well.
Meanwhile, the Congress led by Gagan Thapa has already held its 15th general convention from Asoj 18 to 23.
That faction is preparing to complete the remaining district and provincial conventions by the end of Mangsir. Of the party's 77 districts, conventions have already been held in the 35 districts that have only a single constituency, while 42 districts remain.
