Parliamentary panel urges priority to livelihoods in Bhotekoshi flood victims' rehabilitation

The parliamentary special committee on climate change in the Himalayas, climate justice and the Bhotekoshi–Trishuli disaster has urged giving priority to the livelihoods of flood victims in their rehabilitation.
During a discussion on rehabilitation after the devastating flood that struck the Bhotekoshi–Trishuli corridor in Rasuwa on Bhadau 10, lawmakers urged that the livelihoods of those affected be placed at the centre.
During the discussion, lawmakers also expressed concern over the lack of coordination in disaster management.
The family of a soldier from Rautahat, who has been missing for more than a month after being caught in the flood, has made an effigy of the body from kush grass and is set to perform the last rites according to Hindu tradition.
Meanwhile, climate activists staged a protest with placards at Kathmandu Durbar Square on Friday, demanding climate justice following the Bhotekoshi flood.
