Generational transition happens gradually based on method, process and merit: UML chair Oli

CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli has said that generational transition in various sectors of the party and the state happens gradually based on a defined method, process and merit. He said this while addressing the 'Mission Party Awakening Campaign and Leading Cadre Gathering' organized by UML's Contact Special Organization Committee in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Oli said that since generational transition is a natural process, there is no need to make a big fuss over it. He said the new generation needs training, not agitation, and that experience and merit are required for generational transition. At the same gathering, he also said various kinds of attacks were being directed at him.

Drawing the government's attention to the situation following the flooding in the Budhigandaki river in Gorkha, Oli accused the government of showing a narrow-mindedness even during a time of national disaster. Noting past shortcomings in the use of government helicopters and in rescue operations, he urged that government helicopters should not be turned into the private property of any particular institution and that such incidents should not be allowed to repeat.
