Postage stamp issued to honour Bise Nagarchi and Bange Sarki

The Postal Services Department has issued a postage stamp honouring historical figures Bise Nagarchi and Bange Sarki.

The stamp, released on Asoj 25, also carried a first-day cover seal from the department.

Bikram Timilsina, who had the opportunity to affix the first-day cover seal, said he felt proud and satisfied. He described the move as an effort to view history through an inclusive lens.

According to him, it sends a message that the Dalit community's contribution to nation-building is given its due place. Timilsina said that although a nation's history is never built by a single person or community alone, not all contributors have been honoured equally.

He said granting national recognition to the two figures is a meaningful step toward filling that historical void. Timilsina thanked the Postal Services Department and everyone involved in issuing the stamp.
