Grand book exhibition begins at Nepal Academy

The Grand Book Exhibition-2083 has begun at Nepal Academy.

Vice-Chancellor Abinash Shrestha inaugurated the exhibition on Friday at the Academy premises in Kamaladi.

The Academy said the exhibition aims to promote a reading culture and strengthen ties between readers and publishers.

At the inauguration, Vice-Chancellor Shrestha said books continue to play a role in social development and knowledge production.

He also said the Academy's exhibition would help spread knowledge.

The exhibition will run until Asoj 18.

According to the Academy, books on Nepali language, literature, art, culture, philosophy and science will be sold at discounts of up to 40 percent.

Along with government and institutional publications, private publishing houses, book distributors and related organizations have also set up stalls to display and sell books.

Participants include Sajha Prakashan, National Archives, Lalitkala, Nepalaya and Indigo Ink, among others.

Books on history, sociology, children's literature and folk literature are also on display.

Priority in the stalls has been given to informative and creative genre books.

The Academy said participating publishers and organizations were given free stalls based on criteria set by the organizers and stall availability.
