After Dasain, farmers rush to bring in paddy and monsoon crops

As Dasain winds down, farmers from Jumla to Rupandehi and Dang are busy bringing in ripened paddy and other monsoon crops from their fields.
In Jumla, with clear weather, farmers have been working from morning till evening storing paddy, kodo, buckwheat, beans and maize. According to Aase Basnet, ward chair of Tila Rural Municipality-8, farmers have prioritized crop care over festivities. Ram Bhakta Adhikari, chief of the Jumla District Agriculture Development Office, said work to store soybean and potatoes is also underway at the same time.
In Rupandehi, some farmers had already harvested paddy before Dasain, while others are preparing to cut the rest. Farmers are seen busy bringing in paddy in the Bishnupur area of Tilottama Municipality-4 as well.
In Hekuli of Dangisharan Rural Municipality-3 in Dang, farmers are cutting paddy, carrying it to the threshing yard and bringing it home using threshers. According to Bharat Chaudhary of Hekuli, they keep enough paddy for the year's household consumption and sell the rest to cover household expenses.
In Bhedabari of Falebas Municipality-2 in Parbat, paddy and kodo are turning yellow, so harvesting work there is set to begin within a few days.
