The Jhapa District Administration Office has barred loud DJ music during festivals, religious celebrations, rallies and idol immersion processions.

Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Pokharel issued the notice to maintain harmony, brotherhood and peace in the multi-religious, multicultural district.

The notice also calls for avoiding unruly activities that could spark discord.

It urges people to avoid causing disturbances in front of other faiths' centers of worship, such as temples, mosques, madrassas, churches or monasteries, during religious observances.

Organizers have also been asked to follow designated routes and time limits.

If DJ music must be played, the administration says it should be played only in a manner that respects social sentiment and decorum.

Security agencies have been given strict instructions to prevent antisocial activities during festivals.

The notice also warns that DJ companies that disregard social decorum will face action, and that violators of the law will be penalized.
