46th Nepal Bhasa literature conference opens in Bhaktapur

The 46th edition of the Nepal Bhasa literary conference and cultural program, known as 'Tahmunjya', has begun in Bhaktapur.
Senior citizen and cultural guru Motibahadur Khayamali inaugurated the conference on Friday morning at Yata in Gomari, Bhaktapur Municipality-7.
Organizers say the program, carrying the Nepal Bhasa slogan 'Janata mwa:sa bhasa mwai' (if the people live, the language lives), will run for two days and two nights, concluding on Saturday night.
As per tradition, literary programs are held during the day and cultural programs in the evening.
Along with recitations of poems, stories and essays, competitive dramas, khyal performances, dances, musical dramas and songs are being presented.
On the first day, invited and guest writers read out their own works.
Experts on language and literature shared their views, while writers and artists were honored and discussions were held on contemporary social issues.
The conference has been held every year since Nepal Sambat 1100 (Bikram Sambat 2037), rotating among different neighborhoods of Bhaktapur municipality.
The organizer, Nepal Bhasa Sahitya Tahmunjya, claims this is the country's oldest ongoing literary conference.
