Austria expels four Russian diplomats

Austria has instructed four Russian diplomats to leave the country over activities deemed incompatible with their diplomatic status.

Austria's Foreign Ministry announced the decision on Friday.

The ministry said the action against the diplomats in Vienna was taken based on information provided by security officials.

Of those expelled, three worked at the Russian embassy and one was part of Russia's delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

The Russian embassy criticized the decision and warned of an appropriate response.

Russia also accused Austria of blindly following anti-Russian Western policy.

Austria has expelled Russian diplomats on several occasions since 2022.
