Cyclone forming in Bay of Bengal to affect weather Kattik 11-15; caution urged for paddy harvest

Nepal's weather is likely to turn unsettled from Wednesday, Kattik 11, to Sunday, Kattik 15, due to a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.
The Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued a special bulletin on Friday evening with this information. According to the division, a low-pressure area developed over the east-central and southeastern Bay of Bengal on Friday morning.
The division said this conclusion was drawn based on analysis of weather models and satellite imagery. The system is expected to intensify gradually and turn into a cyclonic storm by Monday, Kattik 9.
The storm is forecast to move west-northwest and make landfall along the coast of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha in India. As a result, Nepal could see cloudy weather and rain, the division said.
However, the division said it is not yet possible to determine exactly how much rain will fall in Nepal or how significant the risk will be. The division urged everyone concerned to remain alert, saying the possible adverse weather could affect the agriculture and tourism sectors.
