Food Corporation's Taplejung branch sells over Rs 10 million in three months

The Taplejung branch of the Food Management and Trading Company Limited has sold about Rs 10.2 million worth of goods in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
According to branch chief Prakash Timsina, about 1,180 quintals of foodgrains and other items were sold between Saun and Asoj. The biggest seller was jira masino rice, with around 570 quintals sold worth about Rs 5 million. Sona rice sales of about 340 quintals brought in roughly Rs 2.1 million.
For the first time in nearly five decades since the company was established in Taplejung, it has started selling sugar and lentils. Sugar sales of about 250 quintals over the three months generated transactions worth roughly Rs 2.7 million. The branch said crowds of consumers grew after sugar and lentils were offered at discounted prices during the festive season.
In the last fiscal year 2082/83, the branch had sold about Rs 10.6 million worth of foodgrains over the entire year. This year's three-month sales have already come close to matching last year's total.
