Vehicle manufacturer Honda has provided US$100,000 to support relief and rehabilitation for flood victims in Nepal. At the Nepal Rastra Bank's buying rate for the US dollar set for today, the amount equals about Rs 15.38 million.

According to the company, the funds have been sent to the Prime Minister Natural Calamity Relief Fund, a government fund for disaster rescue and relief. The donation was made through Asian Honda Motor Company Limited in Thailand, Honda's Asia and Oceania regional headquarters, which provided the money through the Thai Red Cross Society.

The support aims to help with rescue, relief and long-term rehabilitation of citizens affected by the flood that struck on Bhadau 10, or August 26. On that day, floods on the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers caused major damage to roads, bridges and market areas linking Rasuwa.

Since the flood, the Rasuwagadhi crossing with China has remained closed, and road connectivity between Rasuwa and Kathmandu has not been fully restored.

Honda expressed condolences to all families and communities affected by the flood. The company also wished for the lives of residents in the affected areas to return to normal soon.
