National ID card mandatory for health insurance enrolment from Poush 1

The Health Insurance Board has decided that a national identity card will be mandatory for its health insurance programme from Poush 1. According to the decision of the board's second meeting, citizens aged 16 and above will need a national ID card to newly enrol in insurance, renew their insurance, and receive services under the scheme.
All insured families, under both the general and targeted categories, must update their details on the board's electronic portal.
The board expects this to confirm the identities of insured people, prevent the same person from enrolling twice, and make claims management more reliable.
The meeting also formed a task force to study strategic procurement, aimed at making the service procurement and payment system scientific, cost-effective and sustainable. The task force will submit its report within 60 days. The report will cover the selection of health facilities, the basis for contracts and payments, service classification, and an implementation plan.
