Maitidevi temple complex decked out ahead of Dashain

Cleaning, painting and decoration work at the Maitidevi temple complex in Ward 30 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been intensified as Bada Dashain draws near.

Ramesh Khadgi, member-secretary of the Maitidevi Temple Area Management Committee, said decorative lights will begin to be installed within a day or two after painting is finished. He said the plan this year is to first place lights along the road and then install lights on the temple roof as well.

The structures inside the temple, which have long been blackened by smoke, along with the roof and interior, have undergone special cleaning. Construction, repair and upgrading of various structures in the temple complex are also underway in preparation for Dashain.

Devotees usually throng Maitidevi for darshan and puja during Dashain.
