Vehicle owners no longer need to visit transport office for registration, transfer

Vehicle owners will no longer need to be personally present at the Transport Management Office for the registration and ownership transfer of new or used vehicles. The government has made this arrangement by amending certain provisions of the Transport Management Procedure Directive, 2060.
Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal amended the provisions of the directive. Under the amended arrangement, buyers of new or used vehicles will no longer need to visit the Transport Management Office themselves when purchasing a vehicle.
Vehicle owners will also not need to be present in person for vehicle insurance or insurance renewal. The department has stated that insurance or renewal can now be done even without the owner being present at the office.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, the amended arrangement is expected to make the processes related to vehicle registration, ownership transfer, insurance and renewal simpler and more service-friendly. Previously, there was a provision requiring vehicle owners to be personally present at the office for these tasks.
