Flood-hit power restoration in Gorkha accelerated, Arughat charging targeted by tonight

The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation said it has accelerated work to restore electricity service disrupted in Gorkha due to floods in the Budhigandaki and its tributary Syar Khola corridor. The ministry said necessary repair and reconstruction work is underway following the flood.

According to the ministry, the target is to charge electricity in the Arughat area by tonight. Final preparations are underway to charge two more transformers in Arughat Rural Municipality-3, at Keurpani and Dhunge, the ministry said.

Due to the flood, nearly 5,000 households in northern Gorkha have been deprived of electricity service. After the flood damaged the Sirdibas-Uhiya micro-hydropower project, 971 households in Chumanubri Rural Municipality have been left in darkness.

The ministry said repair work is continuing to restore power supply in the flood-affected areas.
