30/55 civil service provision will not take effect immediately, no ordinance coming: Minister Raval

Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Raval has said the government has no plan to bring the civil service-related law through an ordinance.
Amid fears of an ordinance that have led to a rise in resignations by civil servants, Minister Raval clarified that the bill will undergo detailed discussion in parliament itself. The Federal Civil Service Bill was registered in the House of Representatives on Asoj 16.
Under the proposed bill, civil servants who have completed 30 years of service or reached 55 years of age would be given mandatory retirement on a one-time basis. This provision could affect the pension benefits of some employees.
Fears of an ordinance grew after the parliamentary session ended on the third day after the bill was registered. According to Minister Raval, the 30/55 proposal will not be implemented immediately. Since the government intends to create a law of long-term significance, she said the question of an ordinance does not arise at all. She also urged civil servants not to fear an ordinance.
