Tenth National Games to be held as scheduled, Minister Pokhrel assures

Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokhrel has said that the Tenth National Games will not be postponed again.

Addressing a meeting of the Tenth National Games Main Organising Committee held on Sunday in Surkhet, Karnali Province, he urged people not to harbour doubts about whether the competition will take place.

According to Minister Pokhrel, the festival of sports had already begun that same day, and the competition will be held from Mangsir 16 to 29. He expressed confidence that this edition will be more effective than previous ones.

He said all three tiers of government and all stakeholders must work together for a successful event.

The date of the Tenth edition has been changed several times, and the current date is the fifth time it has been set. After the Ninth edition was held in Gandaki Province from Asoj 28 to Kartik 3, 2079, Karnali was given responsibility for hosting the Tenth edition.

Later, at the 115th board meeting of the National Sports Council (Rakhepa), it was decided to hold the competition in Karnali from Mangsir 2 to 9, 2081. However, the competition has kept being postponed because preparations, including the necessary infrastructure, were not completed on time.
