Illegal goods worth nearly Rs 28 crore seized from Madhes in three months

The Armed Police Force, Nepal has said it seized illegal goods worth nearly Rs 27.85 crore from Madhes Province over the past three months.

The seized items include groceries, clothing, tobacco products, electronics, hardware, motor parts and cosmetics.

According to the Armed Police, vehicles worth more than Rs 10.22 crore that were used to transport the goods have been seized and handed over to customs.

During the same period, more than 1,100 cubic feet of timber and 102 grams of silver, together worth over Rs 3 million, were also recovered.

84 people involved in these activities have been taken into custody and handed over to the concerned agencies.

The Armed Police said about 1,606 kg of marijuana, 9.5 kg of hashish and 193 grams of brown sugar were seized from border areas. Three katuwa pistols, two sixer revolvers and two bharuwa (homemade) guns were also recovered.
