Home Ministry orders return of VIP security personnel deployed in violation of procedure within 7 days

The Home Ministry has directed that security personnel deployed for the protection of VVIPs (very very important persons) and VIPs (very important persons) in violation of procedure be returned to their original posts within seven days.
Issuing a public notice on Friday, the ministry said it had already given this instruction to Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force, the relevant security agencies, on Asoj 22. The ministry said it had received widespread complaints that security personnel had recently been assigned to household and personal work beyond their security duties.
The ministry recalled that the "Procedure for Security Management of Very Very Important and Very Important Persons, 2081" clearly provides for Personal Security Officers (PSOs) available to serving and former officials and security personnel. The directive states that all security personnel deployed or retained in violation of the procedure must be sent back without exception.
The ministry warned that officials who decide to deploy security personnel in defiance of the order would also face action. It said security personnel themselves and the general public could file complaints if they learned that security personnel were being used for household or private work.
