Ashish Gajurel, chairman of the House of Representatives' Infrastructure Development Committee, has directed the relevant bodies to take action against anyone found cheating passengers during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath.

After inspecting the New Bus Park in Gongabu on Friday evening, he said an estimated 1 million to 1.5 million passengers are expected to leave the Valley during this festival season, and urged the relevant bodies to make arrangements accordingly.

He said a report prepared by a sub-committee led by lawmaker Dhanendra Karki has already been submitted to the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. According to the report, while there are enough buses relative to the number of passengers, their management needs improvement.

He said tickets issued through the digital system inside the bus park charge only the fixed fare, and that passenger name, address and phone number are recorded on the ticket. For this reason, he said, there is no possibility of cheating inside the bus park. He urged passengers to buy tickets only from official counters and through the system.
