Mostly cloudy in hills, rain likely in some Himalayan and Terai areas

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast mostly cloudy skies today over most hilly areas of the country.

According to the department, light rain or snowfall may occur in one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Moderate rain is likely in a few places in Madhesh Province and in the Terai of those four provinces. The department said light rain may occur in one or two places in the Terai of Sudurpashchim.

Westerly winds are affecting Karnali and Sudurpashchim, as well as the western part of Gandaki and Lumbini. In the remaining areas, a partial influence of westerly winds is noted along with the monsoon winds.

Among major cities, Janakpur is forecast to have a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, and Biratnagar and Nepalgunj 23 degrees. Kathmandu is expected to be 17 degrees, and Pokhara and Birendranagar 19 degrees Celsius.

The department has forecast a 20 percent chance of light rain with thunderstorms in Pokhara. Early-morning fog is expected in Janakpur and Nepalgunj.

Tomorrow, moderate rain or snowfall may occur in a few places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini. The department also said moderate rain is likely in a few places in the hilly parts of Karnali and Sudurpashchim.

Tomorrow, moderate rain may also occur in one or two places in the Terai from Madhesh to Lumbini, from Koshi onwards.
