Some events of 10th National Games to be held in Nepalgunj, floodlights installed at stadium

Preparations are underway to hold some events of the 10th National Games in Nepalgunj, Banke.

The competition is scheduled to take place in Surkhet, Karnali Province, from Mangsir 16 to 27.

A team led by Ministry of Education and Sports Secretary Chudamani Paudel and Joint Secretary Ramesh Dhakal inspected the Nepalgunj Stadium on Monday.

Mahesh Chand, office chief of the former Mid-Western Regional Sports Development Committee, said the team viewed the stadium's main ground, swimming pool, shooting range and covered hall on its way back after reviewing preparations in Surkhet.

Meanwhile, floodlights are being installed at the stadium as part of the government's plan to hold night-time competitions.

Bhim Oli, former chairman of the Mid-Western Regional Sports Development Committee, said that since daytime play is difficult in Nepalgunj due to the heat, floodlights would allow regular practice and competitions at night as well. This, he said, would also help make Nepalgunj a sports tourism destination.
