Kathmandu — Two bills aimed at dividing the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal into separate regulatory and service-provider institutions have been registered in the House of Representatives.

Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Khadga Raj Paudel (Ganesh) registered the bills in parliament on Friday. The bills have been introduced with the objective of making aviation services safe, standard, reliable and accessible to all.

At present, the Civil Aviation Authority carries out both regulatory and service-delivery functions. Under the proposed bills, these two functions would be carried out by separate institutions.

According to records at the Parliament Secretariat, the government registered five bills in the House of Representatives on the same day on Friday. The bills are related to civil aviation, good governance, infrastructure and road safety.
