Budhigandaki flood damages four under-construction hydropower projects worth 413MW

A flood in the Budhigandaki river on Sunday morning damaged four under-construction hydropower projects in Gorkha. According to preliminary details from the Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN), the affected projects have a combined capacity of about 413MW.

Preliminary reports indicate the flood damaged project camps, construction equipment, access roads and bridges.

Times Energy Private Limited, located at Sallery in Gorkha, suffered major physical damage. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the flood swept away 9 blocks belonging to the company and 6 public buildings.

All 18 staff working at the company managed to flee to safety.
