Rain, snowfall disrupt life in Humla; phone, internet down in Simikot and most areas

Continuous rain and snowfall have severely disrupted life in Humla. Various parts of the district have been affected after snowfall occurred as early as the month of Asoj.

Phone and internet services have been completely disrupted in the district headquarters, Simikot, and most other areas. Telephone and internet towers located at high elevations also fall within the areas affected by the rain and snowfall.

Meanwhile, a drinking water problem has also emerged in the district headquarters, Simikot. Water supply has been affected after a problem arose at the intake at the source of the Humane Khola, which supplies drinking water to the headquarters.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the weather across the country is expected to gradually improve following the continuous rain. Although heavy rainfall is likely to stop, the division has said there is a possibility of light rain in some places in the western region and hilly areas.
