Key roads reopen after floods: Prithvi Highway two-way, Pokhara-Beni and Kaligandaki open

Major roads across the country blocked by floods and landslides, including the Prithvi Highway, have come back into operation.
Two-way traffic has resumed on the Prithvi Highway after a landslide and large boulders that fell at Chhahare in Gajuri Rural Municipality-2, Dhading, were removed, according to the Naagdhunga-Naubise-Mugling Road Project. Even though the road has reopened, risk remains in places including Parewabhir.
The Pokhara-Beni road, closed for five days, reopened from Wednesday evening. According to Myagdi Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajan Karki, vehicles are running one-way only on the Maldhunga-Beni section.
The Kaligandaki corridor also came back into operation from Wednesday evening after a landslide was cleared on the Harmichaur-Arbeni-Purtighat section in Gulmi, the District Police Office said.
Vehicles will start plying temporarily on the Galchhi-Betrawati road, damaged by the flood a month ago, from Thursday. According to Badri Prasad Sharma, chief of the Road Division Office, Nuwakot, it will not be possible to reach Syafrubesi until a Bailey bridge is connected, since the bridge at Betrawati was washed away. There is no problem on the road from Betrawati to Syafrubesi. The foundation of the Bailey bridge has already been prepared, and once the road opens, the Nepal Army will proceed with connecting the bridge.
