CPN-UML has withdrawn the support it had been extending to the Madhesh Province government.

All four UML ministers in the government handed their resignations to Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav on Friday.

Those who resigned are Labour and Transport Minister Sharadadevi Thapa, Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Mohammad Samir, Education and Culture Minister Manoj Kumar Singh, and Youth and Sports and Social Welfare Minister Lakhandas Tatma.

UML provincial parliamentary party leader Sarojkumar Yadav informed the province chief of the decision to withdraw support in a letter.

The letter to the chief minister states that the 15-point agreement reached among the ruling parties when the government was formed has not been implemented.

UML said it had supported the government with the aim of addressing governance, good governance, development and public welfare issues.

However, the party alleges the government could not run according to the agreement and failed to guarantee good governance.

According to UML chief whip Harinarayan Mahato, the party took this step as part of an effort to form a new government.

The Nepali Communist Party is also part of the coalition led by Congress's Yadav.

With the ministers' resignations, Chief Minister Yadav's government has been put in a difficult position.
