Chairman Thapa announces he will step back from routine administrative work to lead 'Samunnati' campaign

Newly elected Nepali Congress chairman Gagan Kumar Thapa, stressing the need to change the party's working style and manner of organization-building, has announced that he will stay away from the party's routine administrative work. He said he would instead focus on the 'Samunnati' (prosperity) campaign.
Addressing a program held in Kathmandu on Friday, Chairman Thapa said he would move forward by including capable individuals who were defeated or left out in the party's internal competition. He also urged that the internal election not be seen as the final measure of victory and defeat.
Thapa said several candidates he had voted for at the 15th General Convention were defeated. He also mentioned that some colleagues he had wished to keep on his team were left out.
Saying he had contested many times in his political journey, Thapa expressed gratitude for the contribution of those who stood by him during times when he was weak and in difficulty. He said that at a time when politics is divided in the name of 'new' and 'old', Congress has the capacity to take everyone forward together.
