Salt Trading's low-price shops offer discounts on Dasain food items

Consumers have been able to buy food items cheaper than market rates at the low-price shops run by Salt Trading Corporation Limited for the festival season.

According to corporation manager Prajwal Man Pradhan, these shops will operate from Asoj 1 to the end of Kartik on government instruction. He said the shops were opened to make daily consumer goods available at affordable prices during the festivals.

There are about 13 sales centers in places including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Banepa and Dhulikhel. Goods are also being sold at discounted prices from about 25 offices across the country.

The shops stock rice, lentils, oil, sugar, salt, chiura (beaten rice), aata, maida and flour, among other grains. Chili, spices and tea leaves are also available at these shops.
