Vote count for Congress vice-president, general secretary resumes after ballot box dispute resolved

Vote counting for the posts of vice-president and general secretary under the Nepali Congress's 15th general convention has begun. The counting, which had been halted due to a dispute over ballot boxes, resumed late on Saturday at the party's central office in Sanepa.
Earlier, candidates and representatives had raised questions after one ballot box was found missing and the seals on two ballot boxes were found open. This had prevented the counting from moving forward. Counting began after the dispute was resolved.
According to senior advocate Prem Bahadur Khadka, coordinator of the election committee, the counting is being carried out under CCTV monitoring at three locations. Counting of votes for candidates in the open competition category began at 7:30 pm Saturday evening.
Gagan Kumar Thapa has already been elected party president from the same convention.
