Vote counting for the deputy president and general secretary posts under Nepali Congress's 15th general convention has been halted due to a dispute. The counting, which began on Saturday afternoon, was stopped after questions arose over the condition of the ballot boxes.

The dispute began after it was alleged that one ballot box was missing and the seals on two others had been broken. The counting was affected after an unsealed ballot box was found. A source at Sanepa said efforts were underway to resolve the dispute.

The counting, scheduled to begin at 3pm at the party's central office in Sanepa, started late due to delays in preparations. Raju Katuwal, member secretary of the election committee, said counting began after the committee's meeting with the deputy president and general secretary candidates concluded.

Votes for the deputy president and general secretary posts were scheduled to be counted in the first phase. Fourteen rooms had been prepared at the central office in Sanepa for the counting.
