Partly cloudy in hills and mountains today, clear skies in Tarai

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said the country's mountainous and hilly regions will see partly cloudy skies today, while the weather in the Tarai will be mostly clear.
According to the department, the country is currently under the influence of both a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds. It said one or two places in the mountainous and hilly regions could see moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning. Some parts of the Tarai may see morning fog.
The forecast for tomorrow indicates a few places in the mountainous and hilly parts of Koshi, Karnali, and Bagmati provinces could see moderate rain with thunder. Similar rain is possible in one or two hilly and mountainous locations in Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim.
Among major cities, Kathmandu is expected to be generally cloudy with temperatures between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius. Pokhara has a 20 percent chance of light rain with lightning, with temperatures between 16 and 18 degrees. Biratnagar and Nepalgunj are expected to see morning fog, with temperatures between 20 and 22 degrees. Janakpur will be partly cloudy with temperatures between 20 and 22 degrees. Birendranagar is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures between 15 and 17 degrees.
The department issued this forecast at 6 pm today.
