Cloudy skies over hills and Himalayas, moderate rain likely in some Tarai areas tomorrow

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast that today the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will generally remain cloudy. According to the department, moderate rain or snowfall is possible in a few places in these areas.

In the Himalayan and hilly parts of Karnali and Sudurpashchim, partly cloudy weather is expected, with a possibility of moderate rain or snowfall in one or two places.

The Tarai will have partly cloudy skies, and light rain is likely in one or two places in the Tarai of the four provinces.

Tomorrow, the hilly and Tarai areas of the country will generally remain cloudy. The department estimates that moderate rain may fall in a few places in the Tarai of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini. Light rain or snowfall may occur in one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly parts of these four provinces.

The department said the western region is currently under partial influence of westerly winds, and the eastern region under partial influence of monsoon winds.

Today, Kathmandu's temperature is expected to be 27 to 29 degrees Celsius, with a 30 per cent chance of rain. In Pokhara, temperatures of 29 to 31 degrees are forecast along with moderate thundershower rain, with a 30 per cent chance. Janakpur and Nepalgunj are expected to reach temperatures of up to 35 degrees. In Biratnagar, temperatures will be 32 to 34 degrees, and in Birendranagar 31 to 33 degrees, with a 20 per cent chance of rain.
