Bagmati to give Rs 100,000 to national games gold medallists

The Bagmati Province government has decided to give cash prizes of Rs 100,000 to its athletes who win gold medals at the 10th National Games. The decision was made at the 26th expanded board meeting of the Provincial Sports Development Council, held on Saturday.
Under the decision, silver medallists will receive Rs 75,000 and bronze medallists will receive Rs 50,000.
The 10th National Games is scheduled to be held in Surkhet, Karnali Province, from Mangsir 16 to 29. According to council member-secretary Deepak Lama, Bagmati Province will take part in 22 sports in the competition.
The council said the process of selecting athletes at the district level to form teams will begin immediately. Selected athletes will be kept in closed training camps to prepare for the competition.
The same meeting also decided to build a synthetic track at Gauritar in Hetauda-6, along with a multipurpose covered hall with capacity for 3,000 spectators. The council said multi-year contracts will be invited for the construction of both structures.
