Weather mostly clear in Tarai from tomorrow, scattered rain in hills and mountains

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said weather will be mostly clear tomorrow in the Tarai plains, with rain possible only at a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions.

According to the department, partly cloudy skies are expected tomorrow in mountainous and hilly areas, with the possibility of moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Similarly, moderate rain is forecast today at a few places in the Tarai of Sudurpashchim Province and at one or two places in the Tarai of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

The monsoon's low-pressure axis lies around its average position, while the department noted the influence of a low-pressure area over Uttar Pradesh, India, as well as westerly winds.

Today, temperatures in Nepalgunj and Biratnagar are expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius with zero percent chance of rain, while Janakpur is expected to see 31 degrees Celsius; all three cities are forecast to have only partly cloudy skies.

Kathmandu is expected to see 26 degrees Celsius and Pokhara 27 degrees Celsius, with a 30 percent chance of light rain accompanied by lightning in both places. Birendranagar is expected to see 30 degrees Celsius with a 20 percent chance of rain, the department said.
