Balen Shah says 5,737 families have received land certificates, pledges to end squatter issue in 1,000 days

Prime Minister Balen Shah has said the government has so far distributed land ownership certificates to 5,737 families across the country. He shared the information through Facebook on Monday evening.
Shah said the problem of landless, squatter and unplanned settlers, which has remained unresolved for seven decades, will be permanently solved within the next 1,000 days, in line with the election pledge of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). The government has moved ahead with the work under a new procedure, and districts will be declared free of the squatter problem one by one, he said.
In the same context, Shah criticised the Nepali Congress. He said that although the Congress wrote in its 2015 parliamentary election manifesto that land would be distributed to landless farmers, it has not been distributed so far.
Shah also said that for decades, people have been asked for votes with promises to solve this problem and to provide land and land ownership certificates, but the problem has remained the same.
