Gagan Thapa worries leaders could be left out of Central Committee when many compete for one post

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has expressed concern that when several people run for the same party office, important leaders could be defeated and end up outside the Central Committee.
He said there is a growing risk that qualified leaders needed to run the party could be sidelined when they compete against each other for the same post. 'Let's not all try to become office-bearers,' he said.
Thapa has also suggested that leaders who want to become mayor, deputy mayor or provincial MP at the local level should not compete for the Central Member post.
Candidacy registration for various posts was held on Tuesday under the 15th General Convention of Congress.
