Congress's 15th convention postponed two days, to open at Khula Manch on Asoj 18

Nepali Congress's 15th general convention has been postponed by two days.

The convention, earlier set to be held in Kathmandu from Asoj 16 to 19, will now open at Khula Manch on Asoj 18 at 2 pm.

Party central office acting chief secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal issued a press release on Tuesday announcing the convention's new date, time and venue.

According to the release, heavy rainfall in various parts of the country has delayed the selection of representatives for regional conventions and the general convention in some constituencies.

Congress said this information came from the election committee and the party's tiered working committees.

Ward, rural municipality and municipality-level conventions have already been completed, while regional conventions at the provincial assembly and House of Representatives constituency levels are currently underway.

Invitations to attend the convention had already been sent to leaders of various political parties.

While the establishment faction led by Gagan Thapa proceeds with convention preparations in Kathmandu, the faction of outgoing president Sher Bahadur Deuba has drawn up a separate convention schedule.

Under the Deuba faction's plan, ward-level conventions will be held on Asoj 15, while the central convention will run from Mangsir 21 to 23.
