Virat Trade Fair to be held in Biratnagar from Asoj 22

The nine-day Virat Trade Fair will be held in Biratnagar from Asoj 22 to Asoj 30, organised by the Virat Trade Association. At a press conference on Tuesday, the association said preparations for the fair are in the final stage.

The fair, the second edition, will be held at the Jain Bhawan in Biratnagar Metropolitan City. About 100 to 150 stalls are expected. Businesspeople from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan will also set up stalls alongside those from Nepal, the organisers said.

The organisers said food grains, clothing, footwear, electrical and electronic goods, automobiles, furniture and agricultural products will be sold below market prices. They estimate transactions of about Rs 165 million. About 100,000 to 125,000 visitors are expected to attend, and running the fair is estimated to cost about Rs 7.5 million.

Association chairperson Pramod Agrawal 'Jindal' said the fair has been organised to reduce the tendency to travel across the border to Indian markets for festival shopping and to make the sluggish local market lively. The fair will also feature cultural programmes, food stalls, an entertainment area for children, robot demonstrations and a selfie zone.
