Community homestays at six sites in Gulmi draw growing number of tourists

Homestays run by local communities at six sites in Gulmi district have begun drawing increasing numbers of tourists.
Thanks to the cool climate, local cuisine and arts and culture, these rural homestays have built a distinct identity of their own.
The Ranibas Community Homestay in Bharse, Satyawati Rural Municipality-8, has been running for 8 years. It involves 14 women and 3 men and has seen an investment of about 2 million rupees. It can accommodate around 50 guests at a time.
The homestay offers lodging with organic local food and entertainment, and guests can also visit nearby tourist sites. It is reached after a 17-km uphill climb on a dirt road from the Rudrabeni-Wami road section.
Other homestays operating in the district include Thulolumpek, Dhuwankhola in Bhurtung, Remi in Timure, Swara and Resunga.
