Western Regional Hospital opens new 25-bed intensive care unit

A new 25-bed intensive care unit has begun operating at the Western Regional Hospital under the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences in Kaski. With this, the hospital's total number of intensive care beds has reached 35. Previously, the hospital had a 10-bed ICU in operation.
According to academy director Dr Japindra Pokharel, the new unit includes a 16-bed intensive care unit, an eight-bed coronary care unit, and a one-bed isolation ICU. The academy brought the new unit into operation with an additional investment of about 10 million rupees.
Director Pokharel said the extra unit and beds were added as patient pressure on the ICU kept rising. This hospital is the best-equipped government hospital in Gandaki Province. Patients come here from all 11 districts of the province as well as from outside districts. The hospital serves about 2,000 patients daily.
