Narayani water level above danger mark, settlements in Chitwan flooded

Floodwater has entered various settlements in Chitwan after the water level of the Narayani River rose above the danger mark. The water level of the Narayani River at Devghat has reached 10.11 meters. The warning level at Narayani is crossed once the water reaches 7.3 meters, and the water level continues to rise.

The Flood Forecasting Division, issuing a special flood forecast bulletin at 7:45 am today, had said there was a high risk of flooding in the Narayani River and its tributaries.

Local residents have been affected after Narayani floodwater entered the riverside settlement of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1. Houses and schools have been submerged, while belongings have been damaged as water entered homes.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, water has started entering some settlements after the water level rose in the Narayani River and local streams, while roads have also been blocked in some places. Dozens of houses have been affected due to the flooding.
