Purbanchal University's budget approved, AI and medical education prioritized

Purbanchal University has passed a budget of NPR 1,991,697,000 (about 1.99 billion rupees) for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84.

The university's 43rd assembly, held at the Ministry of Education in Singha Durbar, unanimously passed the income-expenditure statement and the policies and programs presented by Registrar Prof. Dr. Panna Bahadur Thapa.

The assembly was chaired by Sasmita Pokharel, Minister for Education and Sports and Pro-Chancellor of the university.

Educational transformation, technology-friendly infrastructure and the expansion of medical education are the university's main priorities for the coming year. The university said an integrated physical infrastructure will be built on 805 bighas of land at Gothgaun as per the master plan.

There are plans to prepare and teach new specialized curricula in subjects such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science and cyber security. The university has also adopted a policy to develop specialized curricula in medicine and engineering.
