Sudurpashchim government unveils Rs 37.70 billion budget

The Sudurpashchim provincial government has presented a budget of Rs 37,703,967,000 for the current fiscal year 2083/84. Minister for Economic Affairs Chakra Bahadur Malla presented the budget to the Provincial Assembly on Sunday.
The budget came on the 87th day after the fiscal year began. Earlier, the government led by outgoing Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah had presented a budget to the Provincial Assembly on Asar 1. However, that government fell after the ruling CPN-UML withdrew its support midway. The budget was delayed because the government changed on Saun 29.
Minister Malla has presented the new budget at the same size as the one brought by then Finance Minister Bikram Singh Dhami.
The budget allocates Rs 6.45 billion for road construction. Rs 20 million has been set aside for the industrial area at Daiji-Chhela in Kanchanpur, Rs 38 million for running an organic fertilizer industry, and Rs 10 million for preparing the master plan of the provincial capital.
