Floods and landslides shut all three major trade points with China, vehicles worth billions stranded

All three major trade points connected to China have been blocked due to continuous rain, floods and landslides over three days. This has brought overland trade with China to a complete halt.

With the border points and roads blocked, vehicles worth billions of rupees have been stranded on the roads and at customs points. According to Nepal Samacharpatra, imports have come to a halt after the Korala point, the only one that remained operational, also closed.

The closure of the trade points has affected pre-Dashain trade. According to Nepal Samacharpatra, the blockage is creating a situation where Dashain, Nepal's biggest festival, is likely to become more expensive.
