Finance Minister Waglé urges AIIB to boost investment in Nepal's reconstruction, infrastructure

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Waglé has held talks with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun. He urged AIIB to increase investment in Nepal's post-flood reconstruction and infrastructure sector.

Finance Minister Waglé is in Doha, the capital of Qatar, to attend the 11th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors. The meeting took place on the sidelines of that event. Minister Waglé also serves as Nepal's Governor for AIIB.

During the meeting, the finance minister urged AIIB to expand its investment in Nepal's infrastructure sector alongside post-flood reconstruction. Continuous rainfall in recent days has triggered floods and landslides that have damaged roads, settlements and other structures in various parts of the country.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is a multilateral development bank that invests in infrastructure projects across Asian countries, and Nepal is a member state.
