Autumn climbing on Mount Dhaulagiri in Myagdi, which had been halted, has resumed after the weather cleared.

Dhaulagiri, the world's seventh highest mountain at 8,167 meters, is located in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4, Mudi. Climbing had been suspended after continuous rain and heavy snowfall from Asoj 8 to 11 buried the base camp in snow.

According to Thaneshwar Guragain, managing director of Seven Summit Treks, 14 people — both Nepali and foreign members of the company — were rescued by helicopter at the time and brought to Pokhara on Asoj 8.

After the weather turned favorable, the team set out again from Pokhara on October 1 and, after passing through base camp, is now climbing toward the summit. He said the rope-fixing team has reached about 400 meters above Camp II to make the route safe.
