Flying kites, drones and balloons, as well as lighting laser lights, has been banned in areas around Pokhara International Airport and the old Pokhara Airport.

According to Jagannath Niraula, chief of Pokhara International Airport, a public notice has been issued because such activities pose a serious risk to the safety of takeoffs and landings. The concerned authority has also stated that indiscriminate dumping of garbage and disposing of dead animals and birds in canals around the airport poses a risk to aviation safety.

Such waste can increase the movement of birds and other wildlife. Since the risk of accidents increases if birds collide with aircraft during takeoff or landing, the public has been requested to properly remove garbage and dead animals.

The airport's Civil Aviation Office has warned that those who carry out such activities without heeding the notice will face strict action under prevailing law.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, light rain with thunder is forecast in Pokhara today, with a 20 percent chance of rain.
